Ethiopian Airlines takes delivery of third Boeing Dreamliner aircraft

Ethiopian Airlines continues to stake its outstanding position in Africa’s airline industry as the company takes delivery of its third Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner aircraft.

The airline in a press release has said the Dreamliner was used to do humanitarian services, and it is the first time the company has used a Dreamliner for humanitarian services.

According to Ethiopian Airlines, it delivered approximately 20,000 pounds (9,000 kilograms) of medical supplies to Ethiopia’s largest hospital, the Black Lion Teaching and Referral Hospital in partnership with Boeing and Seattle Anesthesia Outreach (SAO).

From the records, Ethiopian Airlines becomes the first airline in the world to own three of the most modern passenger aircraft.

“The airplane was delivered and flew away from Everett directly to Addis Ababa and landed on October 24 at 1:40 a.m. after an approximately 15-hour nonstop flight,” Ethiopian said in the release.

According to Ethiopian, the 787 Dreamliner is composed of light-weight composites and features numerous system, engine and aerodynamic advancements making it more efficient to operate compared with its competition. It is the first mid-sized airplane capable of flying long-range routes, enabling airlines to open new, non-stop routes preferred by passengers.

“Ethiopian Airlines has seven more 787 Dreamliners remaining on order”, it said.
