Accra Polytechnic gets new lab for foreign, local languages
Dr Sylvester Achio, Reactor of Accra Polytechnic, on Tuesday inaugurated a GH¢200,000 Language Laboratory for the institution funded by GETFund and internally generated funds.
Dr Achio said he was elated to see Accra Polytechnic have its own language laboratory to enhance the learning of foreign languages by students and also Ghanaians whose children were born in the Diaspora could make use of it to improve their learning of local languages.
He said the laboratory would be opened to the public who might be interested in polishing their foreign language proficiency at a token fee.
He appealed to Ghanaians to take the learning of other foreign languages especially French seriously since Ghana is surrounded by francophone countries.
Mr Amoa-Buahin of Digisol Ghana Ltd, the consultants who executed the project, said it is a modern Sanako lab 100 which is a fully digital, capable of seating 30 students at a time and can handle three separate classes simultaneously.
It can be used for all kinds of languages, reading practice, pronunciations and group discussions.
The laboratory can also be used for simultaneous and consecutive interpretations, moderating examinations, watching movies, among others.
