Chief Justice calls on new Accra Anglican Bishop
The Chief Justice, Mrs Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, on Monday paid a courtesy call on the new Anglican Bishop of Accra, Right Reverend Dr Daniel Sylvanus Mensah Torto, at the Anglican Bishops Court in Accra.
This was to formally welcome the new Bishop into his high office and to congratulate him on his elevation.
She said the Anglican Bishop of Accra is the spiritual father of the Judiciary in Ghana and therefore she deemed it fit to meet the Bishop.
Mrs Justice Wood said during the consecration of Bishop Torto in June, duty did not allow her to attend but was represented.
She said she was looking forward for an even better relationship so that the Judiciary and the Church could serve Ghana better.
Rr. Rev Torto said the Anglican Diocese of Accra would put up a Bishops Tower Complex on the High Street and invited the Judiciary to pick up rooms and offices in the Complex as tenants.
He prayed for peaceful elections come December 7, 2012 and asked for God’s guidance and protection for the Chief Justice and other justices as they go about their duties, especially during and after the elections.
Most Rev Dr Justice O. Akrofi, the immediate past Bishop of Accra, was present.
