Women in aviation sector urged to aim high

Mrs. Adelaide Annor-Kumi, Director of Finance and Administration at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, has urged female staff of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) not to relent in the pursuit of their goals in aviation industry.

She encouraged them to aim high saying that the sky should not be their limit.

She made the statements over the weekend when the GCAA Ladies Association held an end-of-year-party for their members.

Mrs. Annor-Kumi, who was the guest of honour at the event, said although they were bound to face several challenges as women in the male-dominated aviation industry, they should not be intimidated but rather aim high.

Director-General of the GCAA congratulated them on their hard work in the year 2012 and urged them to put in their maximum efforts in the year 2013 in order to help the Authority deliver its brand promise of ‘safety and security’ in the industry.

Miss Joyce Asante, President of the GCAA Ladies Association, also commended the ladies for their hard work and dedication in 2012, recounting several activities of the Association including seminars and the participation of three of their members in the annual women in aviation conference in the US, one of them sponsored by management of the GCAA.

She, however, called on management to sponsor more of the ladies to attend the conference in the ensuing years as it would accrue to the benefit of the Authority.

The Association presented citations to five of its former executives.
