Women cautioned against spending longer times in churches, prayer camps
Ms Joyce Fobbih Takyi Aboagye, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Joyful Ventures Construction Company has cautioned women against spending all their time in churches and Prayer camps in their quest to seek better life.
She said, “It is sad to observe that some of the women attend church from Monday to Sunday without attending to their income generating ventures in their anticipation to improve their living condition”.
Ms Aboagye gave the advice at the Annual durbar organized by the Mankrong-Junction Youth Association on Saturday. It was under the theme, “Preparing today for a better tomorrow”.
She said such actions exhibited by majority of Ghanaian women, could be described as showing laziness and apathy, which made life unhealthy and uncomfortable.
According to her, “Heaven helps those who help themselves” , adding that “if one is looking for employment and decides to pray in his or her room without going out to submit applications, it would be very difficult to get a job”.
Ms Aboagye cautioned women who rush to make relations or marry men who have come from abroad or ‘burgers’ with the view of getting a good marriage or rich overnight to be careful.
The CEO who is a senior member of the Methodist Church in Tema questioned: “Who knows whether that burger carries HIV/AIDS?”.
She advised women not to spend all their resources on expensive funeral cloths and other items, but tto invest in their children’s education to help them become responsible adults in future.
Mr Raymond Amoquandoh, Organizer of the Mankrong-Junction Youth Association expressed regret about the politicization of the association by some residents of the area.
He said the main aim and objective of the Association was to partner the Central government and Agona East District Assembly to bring more developmental projects to the town.
Mr Amoquandoh said the Association would help to bring the youth of the area both at home and abroad together during festivals to enable them to contribute towards the development of the area.
Mr Robert Atta Yawson, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Association said they had instituted an educational endowment Fund with seed capital of GH¢1,000 to assist needy but brilliant students in the area.
He therefore appealed to Non-Governmental Organizations, donor agencies both local and foreign, and corporate bodies to assist the Association to achieve its aims and objectives.
