Treat patients with respect, dignity – Health workers urged

stethoscopeThe Ashanti Regional Equipment Manager of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Mr P.K. Mbeah, has said patients should be treated with respect and dignity.

He said everything should be done to make the health facilities patient-friendly, to give confidence to the people and encourage them to seek their services.

Mr Mbeah was speaking at the end of year review meeting of the Asante-Akim South Health Directorate at Juaso.

He said showing love and empathy for the sick could speed up their recovery.

The meeting provided the platform to assess last year’s performance of the GHS and plan the way forward.

It brought together representatives from all the six sub-districts, heads of decentralized department, community-based surveillance volunteers as well as opinion leaders.

Mr Ringo Naah, acting District Director of Health Services, said despite their limited resources, they were able to bring quality health care to the people in the area and have been depending on internally-generated funds to undertake its projects and programmes.

He commended health workers in the district, particularly those serving in the remote and difficult-to-reach parts, for the good job they were doing and their commitment to duty.

Mr Osei Mintah, Administrator of the Juaso District Hospital, said the facility saw massive facelift of its Out-Patients Department, Records Department and Dispensary during the period.
