Court grants Agya Koo bail
An Accra Circuit Court on Monday granted GH¢20,000.00 bail with two sureties to Mr Kofi Adu, aka Agya Koo, ace Ghanaian musician, comedian and popular local movie star.
Adu, who is accused of defrauding several persons under the pretext of providing them with visa and other travelling documents, is to reappear before court on Tuesday, January 22.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mary Agbozo prayed the court to allow the Police to correct anomaly detected on the charge sheet before bring the comedian to court again.
However, Adu’s counsel, Mr Nkrabea Effah Dartey, objected to the assertion of the prosecution, and prayed the court to admit his client to bail “since the name Agya Koo was enough security”.
Agya Koo was arrested by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department, Headquarters, in Accra, last week, when he called at the unit to answer questions on alleged fraud.
This follows the issuance of arrest warrant by an Accra Circuit Court. The comedian would answer questions on accusation of fraud made against him by one Stephen Kwarteng.
