The prosecution in the Alfred Woyome’s case for the second time this year has failed to present a witness to testify in the trial in which the businessman is at the centre of the payment of GH¢51.2 million judgment debt.

The inability of the prosecution to produce a witness to testify in the trial is becoming a source of concern to the court.

Woyome, who is standing trial for defrauding by false pretences and causing financial loss to the State, pleaded not guilty and was granted a GH¢20 million bail with three sureties to be justified.

Ms. Cynthia Lamptey, Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) told the court presided over by Mr Justice John Ajet-Nassam that the prosecution could not bring the witness because of circumstances beyond its control.

The DPP prayed the court for the case to be adjourned, which the court obliged and postpone the matter to February 12, 2013.

Mr Sarfo Buabeng, Counsel for Woyome expressed concern about the continuous delay of the case by the prosecution.
