Ghana’s FPSO vessel to be shutdown for two weeks – Kosmos confirms
US oil firm Kosmos Energy has confirmed that the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel at Ghana’s Jubilee oilfields will be out of work for two weeks.
The shutdown, according to Kosmos is to enable the partners to undertake a regular maintenance work on the vessel.
“… planned two-week shutdown for regular maintenance at the Jubilee floating production, storage, and offloading vessel,” Kosmos said January 28, 2013 on its website.
It however did not indicate exactly when the maintenance work will be carried out.
On January 11, 2013, Jubilee operator Tullow announced that the FPSO will for the first time be tested to its full capacity in the coming weeks and this was due to the oilfield’s increase in oil production per day following start-up of two Jubilee Phase 1A wells and the successful acid stimulations.
According to the UK firm, the Jubilee field is currently producing around 110,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd).
“The total well production capacity is now over 120,000 bopd therefore allowing the current FPSO capacity to be tested over the coming weeks,” Tullow said in its trading statement.
