Government will complete Mills’ projects – President Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday gave the assurance that government would complete all the development projects initiated by late President John Evans Atta Mills in the Central Region.
He particularly mentioned the Kotokruba Market, the Cape Coast Sports Stadium and some major roads as some of the projects government had secured funds for and would soon commence construction works.
President Mahama said this when members of the Central Regional House of Chiefs called on him at the Castle, Osu.
The chiefs were at the Castle to congratulate President Mahama on his victory in the 2012 general election and his subsequent investiture into the highest office of the land.
President Mahama said apart from the market and stadium, government would also upgrade the Cape Coast Regional Hospital into a Teaching Hospital and complete all the abandoned houses of chiefs projects in the coming years.
He said chiefs were revered in the country on account of their wisdom and encouragement and he would continue to tap their knowledge and courage that would help in the development agenda of the country.
The President appealed to the Central Regional House of Chiefs to institute measures that would drastically reduce the spate of land and chieftaincy disputes to attract more investors and other commercial activities into the region.
Daasebere Kwebu Ewusie VII, President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, commended President Mahama for choosing his Vice President from the region and the nomination of Mr E.K.T Addo as Central Regional Minister designate.
He again commended the President for providing them with a four-wheel vehicle and other logistics which, he said, would go a long way to enhance their performance in the traditional sector.
