The Prosecution in the Alfred Woyome case on Tuesday failed to produce the witness they promised to bring to testify in the trial in which the businessman is at the centre of a GH¢51.2 million judgment debt.

The inability of the prosecution to produce the witness to testify in the trial is hampering the case at the court.

At the last sitting of the court the prosecution gave a similar excuse that it could not bring the witness because of circumstances beyond its control.

Ms. Cynthia Lamptey, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) told the court presided over by Mr Justice John Ajet-Nassam that the prosecution could not  produce the intended witness because the person was out of the jurisdiction of the country.

She therefore prayed the court to adjourn the case and the court subsequently fixed February 28, 2013 as the date for the next hearing.

Woyome is standing trial for defrauding by false pretences and causing financial loss to the State. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is on GH¢20 million bail with three sureties to be justified.
