Ghana to set up oil & gas information center
The Ghana government in collaboration with the International Development Association (IDA) is to establish Oil and gas Information Resource Centre (IRC) which would operate as an interactive space for information on the Oil and Gas sector in the country.
The IRC, which is to be independent, will complement the Ministry of Energy’s supply information and would provide access to information, not only supplied by the ministry but also by independent research and international journals and publications.
A document from the Ministry of Energy’s Oil and Gas Capacity Building Project outfit on Wednesday said the establishment of the IRC forms part of the Oil and Gas Capacity Building Project.
The project is to improve the public management and regulatory capacity, while enhancing transparency; and strengthening local technical skills in Ghana’s emerging oil and gas sector.
The first component of the three-component project is the institutional development and sector management.
One of the sub-components of the first component is the provision of diverse support to the Ministry of Energy, the Petroleum Commission, the regulatory body and other stakeholder institutions and groups.
