Trader, policeman charged for possessing stolen property
An Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday granted Micheal Bawah, a trader and Bright Appiah, an interdicted policeman to a bail of GH¢15,000.00 each with two sureties, one to be a public servant.
The two are to re-appear on March 5.
The accused persons, who were charged on the counts of conspiracy to commit crime, and having possession of stolen property, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Reindolf Agyeaman said on April 9, 2012 at about 8:30pm, the police received information that Bawah had snatched a Kia Curator Saloon Car at gun point from the owner and fixed number GW 4058-11 on it.
He said DSP Agyeman said upon interrogation Bawah told the Police that there were two other accomplices now at large, who brought the vehicle to him and Appiah to sell for them.
He said they took the vehicle to Ashiaman and sold it to one Kofi Laryea at the cost of GH¢2,500.00.
DSP Agyeman said on April 24 2012, Appiah was also arrested from his hideout in Koforidua.
He said during interrogation Appiah admitted the offence and told the Police that even though he took part in the sale of the vehicle, the proceeds realised was not given to him by Bawah.
