GRIDCo replaces Achimota burnt transformer
The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) says it has replaced its burnt transformer at Achimota with a new one and with that full power has been restored to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at the Achimota Bulk Supply Point.
This was contained in statement signed by Joana Ohui Tetteh, Head of Public Relations on Wednesday and copied to the Ghana News Agency.
It expressed appreciation to its consumers for their cooperation during the period as well as the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Fire Service, who assisted to bring the fire under control, during the incidence.
On January 26, 2013, fire burnt equipment at the Achimota Sub-Station rendering many parts of Accra and its environs without power supply.
GRIDCo explained the loss of electricity supply to parts of Accra and its environs was as a result of a blast on critical equipment at the Achimota Sub-Station.
GRIDCo restored power to the Electricity Company of Ghana after repairing the fault that occurred at the Achimota Sub-Station on the following Wednesday night.
However, today, in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, GRIDCo said a new transformer had been acquired and was commissioned on Tuesday 19, 2013.
It added that with the completion of the replacement of the transformer, full power had been restored to the ECG at the Achimota Bulk Supply Point.
