Ghana, Nigeria Finance Ministers meet

Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Nigerian Minister of Finance, on Friday paid a courtesy call on Mr Seth Tekper, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning to discuss issues of mutual interest to both countries.

Dr Okonjo-Iweala is in the country to deliver the Second Global Governance Development lecture of the John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation (JAKF) scheduled for Friday.

Mr Tekper told journalists that the meeting bordered on issues such as the Single Spine Salary Structure, subsidies and the budget.

The JAKF, which was inaugurated on September 20, 2011 at the University of Ghana, Legon, aims at engaging in the three areas critical to the development of the African continent.

The areas included leadership, governance and development.

The Foundation is expected to collaborate with state institutions, civil society organisations, the private sector, the media and development partners in order to achieve its vision of effective leadership, democratic governance and sustainable development in Africa.

The inaugural lecture, which was organised two years ago, attracted very high local and foreign dignitaries including the Mr Horst Koehler, Former President of the Republic of Germany, who was the guest speaker.

Others were Former President Jerry John Rawlings and Mr Thabo Mbeki, Former South African President.
