No more group hunting – Nkoranza South Police
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Owusu, Nkoranza South Municipal Police Commander, has called on the youth to end their group hunts saying “offenders would be prosecuted”.
He called on traditional rulers, assembly members, religious leaders and civil society organisations to join in the campaign against bush fires to save lives and property.
DSP Owusu said this at a forum organised by the chiefs and people of Asuoso, a farming community in the Municipality to educate the people on the causes and effects of bushfires.
About two weeks ago, 15 thatched houses in the community were gutted by fire destroying foodstuffs and properties, however, there was no casualty.
DSP Owusu sympathized with the people for the incident and advised them to take precautionary measures against its future occurrence.
He announced that the Municipal Police Command had formed a Task Force that would tour the communities to monitor hunting and other illegal human activities that destroyed the environment.
DSP Owusu appealed to the people to volunteer information to the police about activities of criminals in their communities.
Mr Akrapim Baffoe, Assemblyman for the area, expressed appreciation for the forum saying it would ensure that the people are kept alert to their responsibilities.
He expressed concern about the activities of Fulani herdsmen who destroyed their farm produce with their cattle and called on the police to address the issue.
