Nkoranza maize dealers appeal for more storage facilities
Maize dealers at the Nkoranza market.in Brong Ahafo, have appealed to the Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly to construct more storage facilities for them to store the produce.
They also asked the Assembly to build a place of convenience at the market to improve sanitary conditions there.
Alhaji Ibrahim Dogo, Spokesman for the dealers, told the Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza on Wednesday that it was difficult for them to store their maize, especially during market days.
He stressed that if more storage facilities are provided, it would generate more revenue for the Assembly, adding that “because there are no suitable storage facilities their operations are at the mercy of thieves and the rains“.
Mr Ampraku Nimo, Nkoranza South Municipal Revenue Officer, said every week about 30 cargo trucks loaded with bags of maize leaves the market to other parts of the country.
