Reverend Minister worried about immorality, corruption in the church

BibleThe Reverend Dr Moses Konjon-Sansa, General Overseer of Zion Community Church International on Tuesday entreated the clergy to place emphasis on holiness and righteousness instead of driving their congregations to seeking earthly passions and comforts.

He noted with regret that acts of immorality had eaten into the church in recent times because pastors and church leaders had denied their congregation of the essential and basic principles in Christianity “which are holiness and perfection”.

Rev Dr Konjon-Sansa gave the advice in an interview with newsmen during a one-day leadership and worship conference for some church leaders at Penkwase in the Sunyani Municipality.

The Zion Community Church, in collaboration with Richard L Hamm 1 Ministries in the United States of America (USA) organised the conference and was attended by more than 400 church leaders and pastors in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

It was aimed at strengthening the leadership responsibilities of participants and helping them to build and improve on their ministerial credentials.

Facilitators were made up of 21 pastors and church leaders drawn from different churches in the USA and led by Dr Richard Hamm, President of the Richard L Hamm 1 Ministries.

Topics treated included church constitution and bye-laws, leadership responsibilities, Biblical doctrines, among others.

Rev Dr Konjon-Sansa emphasised that the growth of any God-ordained church was not measured by infrastructural development but the level of spirituality and perfection of members, which would make them inherit the Kingdom of God.

He said corruption was very high in churches because of the lack of quality leadership, noting with sadness that pastors and church leaders had left out the message of morality and genuine repentance, which formed the basis of Christianity.

Rev Konjon-Sansa explained that the recent economic hardships and other challenges in human life were in fulfillment of biblical prophesies, adding that, Christians with questionable characters would not obtain both physical and spiritual blessing from God.

He said Christianity was a way of life and admonished churches to allow the teachings of the bible to reflect in their social lives as those who continued in sin would attract God’s anger.

Dr Hamm said the Richard Hamm Ministry was training more than 1,000 students in its school of Ministries in Accra to empower them to establish their churches and promote the growth of the Kingdom of God on earth.

He said the Ministry was also working in Ghana to network independent churches to churn out strong church leaders with sound Biblical doctrines.

“Many Pastors in Ghana are not trained and lack basic skills, especially in leadership” Dr Hamm stated, explaining that, that was why his Ministries was trying to equip the clergy with rudiments in church establishment.
