State Housing Corporation says will contribute to meet 1.5 million housing needs of Ghana
The Managing Director of State Housing Company Limited (SHC), Dr Mark Nii Akwei Ankrah, has said the company is strategically set to play its part in meeting the over 1.5 million housing needs of the country.
He said SHC was building modern apartments in all the regions of Ghana under its regeneration project while the first 72 units of government affordable houses being undertaken at Baatsona and another 200 units at Adenta by the company would be ready in a few weeks for allocation.
Addressing journalists in Accra, Dr Ankrah said the state of affairs at the SHC had improved dramatically over the past three years when a new board of directors was constituted, adding that social housing was very relevant as it provided the right catalysts for economic development.
Dr Ankrah said SHC’s housing project, particularly the Kaneshie regeneration project which seeks to increase the total number of housing units and re-house the existing leaseholders at no extra cost, would soon be completed as the Company is set to amicably resolve issues with feuding residents.
He gave the assurance that no legal residents at Kaneshie would be made to pay any money to the Company after the project is completed and houses reallocated to them.
