Ghana Premier League: Medeama beats King Faisal to maintain lead
League leaders, Medeama coasted home to a 1-0 victory over King Faisal in their Glo-Premier League Day 18 clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.
Godbless Asamoah fetched the only goal for the visitors in the fifth minute to help consolidate their lead on the log with 34 points.
Unmarked Asamoah pounced on a loose ball, outpaced his marker and on seeing goalkeeper Muntari Tagoe, come off his line lobbed the ball over his head to register the only goal.
Faisal, right from the commencement of proceedings found the going very tough as they could not penetrate the tight Medeama defence which built around Godfred Rockson, Sefa Augustine and Samuel Enzemaba, preventing them from creating decent chances to enable them draw parity.
Faisal resumed the second half with determination and created two clear-cut chances in the 46th and 47th minutes, however, striker Wilson Andoh failed to score on both occassions.
Kofi Owusu came close to scoring for Faisal but his 60th minute long range effort missed the post by inches.
