Veep in Tamale to tour rainstorm areas
Vice President Paa Kwasi Amissah-Arthur arrived in Tamale on Monday to tour some rainstorm affected victims in the Northern Region and possibly extend assistance to them.
He will also visit Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District where Konkombas and Bimobas clashed in a land dispute.
Seven districts of the region have been hit by a devastating storm in recent weeks rendering several people homeless and property destroyed.
Mr. Moses Bukari Mabengba, the outgoing Northern Regional Minister in a brief said the Vice President was in the region to visit victims of the rainstorm and also meet the leaderships of the Komkombas and Bimobas at Nari’s palace at Nalerigu.
Mr. Mabengba said the conflict between the Konkombas and the Bimobas had been occurring intermittently for 30 years and had been as a result of chieftaincy and land disputes and that following the recent conflict 120 security personnel had been sent to the area.
