Asantehene urges Stars to remain focused
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has advised players of the senior national team, Black Stars, to play their hearts out to qualify Ghana for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
He has charged them to do everything to fly high the flag of the nation as they battle their Sudanese counterparts at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Asantehene, who was receiving the Stars to his Manhyia Palace, counseled them to demonstrate high sense of discipline both on-and-off the field, and become good role models to the youth.
The team was accompanied by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Ankrah, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, out-going Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong, technical handlers as well as members of the GFA Executive Committee.
They had called on the Asantehene to seek his support and blessing in their World Cup qualifier against Sudan.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu underlined the need for the team to ensure unity of purpose and to maintain their composure throughout the game.
Midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari, on behalf of his teammates, thanked the Asantehene for being supportive of the Stars, and gave the assurance that they would work to overcome their opponents.
