CAF snubs Ghanaian referees for U-17 Championship
Ghanaian referees have again been snubbed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the impending African U-17 Championship in Morocco.
Ghanaians are conspicuously missing from the 26-man list of match officials, including 14 assistant referees selected by the continental body for the eight-team tournament scheduled for 14-27 April.
Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates the absence of Ghanaian referees from the CAF Elite Referees Panel served a contributing factor to the no-show at the championship, which serve the African qualifier for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in United Arab Emirates later in the year.
There are no big names in the list of selected referees, which makes it strange to fathom why Ghanaians were overlooked for the third successive continental championship after Africa Cup of Nations and African Youth Championship, held earlier in the year.
Additionally, no Ghanaian made the list of prospective match officials for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Some of the selected referees are from hosts Morocco, Tunisia, Kenya, Somalia, Mali, Comoros, Namibia and amongst others.
Ghana’s Black Starlets are housed in Group B alongside Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire and Congo whilst hosts Morocco, Gabon, Tunisia and Gabon make up Group A for the tourney which will see the semi-finalists represent Africa at the global championships.

Well it serves the Ghanaian referees right because their bad match officiating locally is known everywhere and they’re paying for their corrupt attitude. After all, honesty and doing things right are virtues that deserve a reward. Ghanaians in general need an attitudinal change to get things going right
