Ghana must place more value on youth entrepreneurial training – NSS Director
The Atwima Kwanwoma District Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Mr. Frank Akoto Acquah, has underlined the need for Ghana to place more value on youth entrepreneurial training.
This, he said, was the path to travel, given the choked public service, to bring down the rising unemployment and help create wealth.
The young people must be assisted to acquire skills to set themselves up in businesses and end the over-dependence on the government for jobs.
Mr Acquah was speaking at a day’s seminar organized for National Service Personnel in the district at Foase.
“Empowering the youth in job creation” was the theme and it was a joint initiative of the NSS and the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA).
He said the youth needed to be given every necessary support to become creative, self-reliant and take advantage of opportunities.
The participants were taken through career development and entrepreneurship, financial investment and financial literacy by officials of the Data Bank led by Mr. Richard Dankwah and Mr. Patrick Asante Okyere.
They told them that the success of every business largely depended on setting objectives that were specific, measurable, realistic and time-bound.
They advised youth entrepreneurs to do self-assessment to discover the strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats within the environment in order to take advantage of the situation.
