Tourism Minister urges staff to turn challenges into opportunities
Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, on Tuesday urged staff to turn challenges facing the Ministry into opportunities in order to excel.
The Minister said this when she undertook a familiarisation tour to some departments under the Ministry.
The departments she visited are the Ghana National Museum and Monument Board, Hotel, Tourism and Catering Training Institute and the National Theatre .
She said the re-alignment of some of the departments that were hitherto not part of the Ministry was an indication that government wanted to develop the tourism sector.
At the Ghana National Museum and Monument Board, the Minister urged Ghanaians to visit the museum to be abreast of some of the traditional practices in Ghana.
She said some of Ghana’s old currencies, traditional kitchen set up, and the various adinkra symbols at the Museum were some of the best historical artifacts that Ghanaians and other tourists would admire.
At the Hotel, Tourism and Catering Training Institute, Mrs Ofosu-Agyare advocated a private-public partnership to help develop the Institute to achieve its full potential.
She, however, pledged to support it with equipment.
The three resident groups at the National Theatre namely the National Symphony, National Drama and National Dance Group performed to the admiration of the Minister and her entourage.
Dr Agyeman Osei, Executive Director of the Theatre, appealed to the Minister to help replace faulty air conditioners and acquire technical stage equipment.
Mrs Ofosu-Agyare assured the staff at the various departments of her preparedness to help improve on their conditions of service.
She said she would operate an open-door policy and would welcome suggestions and constructive criticisms to develop the Ministry.
