UEW elects new SRC President
Mr Wilson Debuo, a Level 200 Social Sciences student of the University of Education, Winneba, has been elected as President of the Students Representative Council (SRC).
He polled 2,198 votes to beat other two contestants in an election organized by the University local Electoral Commission.
Ms Ernestina Adjei, Business Administration student, was elected the Sectary, Mr Okujato Bright Yohunes was elected the Financial Secretary while Mr Adams Ahmed Mohaideen, elected Sports and Games Secretary.
They were elected unopposed.
Mr Baka Perry polled total votes of 1,136 to be elected the President of National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) of the University, while Ms Ernestina Esoper was elected Secretary and Ms Gloria Koodon as Treasurer with Ms Lydia Kaitoo as Commissioner of the Women’s Wing.
Mr Buaith Ankomah, Chairman of the University Electoral Commission, after declaring the results, said “now that the elections are over all campus political activities are ceased forthwith”.
He warned that anybody found indulging in that act would be dealt with accordingly.
Mr Ankomah advised the new executives to work harder to promote and protect the welfare of students and safeguard the dignity of the University to grow to the highest level.
