Information Ministry initiates moves to improve performance of PROs at MDAs

Mr Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Information and Media Relations (MOIMR) on Friday said the Ministry has rolled out programmes to boost the performance of Public Relations Officers (PROs) in the various ministries and departments to deliver government business.

The programmes are directed at building the capacity of the officers to enhance greater efficiency and coordination in delivering government programmes and policies.

Mr Ayariga, at a press briefing to present computer laptops to the PROs, said an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training programme had started.

At the same time a scheduled regular interaction on ICT between officers and management of the various ministries and departments was also ongoing, he added.

The Minister said the first and second batches of the ICT training have been completed whilst discussions on the introduction of mobile telephony platform was near conclusion.

He added that the mobile telephony platform would enhance communication between the PROs and management as well as allow media houses outside Accra to participate directly to live programmes and events.
