Assembly set to remove illegal posters, billboards in Kumasi
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) will from Monday, April 29, start massive exercise to remove all unauthorized billboards and posters.
A press statement signed by the Metropolitan Coordinating Director, Mr Solomon Asiedu on Friday said, banners, flags and other illegal outdoor advertisement materials pasted on buildings and electricity poles along major roads would all be removed.
It said the exercise formed part of measures instituted by the Assembly to address environmental challenges and related problems in the Metropolis.
It advised that individuals, organizations and institutions should themselves begin removing their flags and posters together with any other unlawful advertisement materials themselves.
It also directed potential advertisers to contact the advertising unit of the Assembly for assistance.
The statement urged advertising agencies to make sure that they take off any of their dilapidated billboards.
The KMA invited all stakeholders to cooperate with the city authorities to give the city a major facelift.
