Stanbic Bank to train Ghanaian journalists on financial reporting

Stanbic Bank Ghana has expressed its readiness to train journalists to specialize in financial reporting to enable them report accurately.

Mr Mawuko Afadzinu, Head of Marketing and Communication of Stanbic, who announced this, noted that credible information on financial issues was very important as inaccurate information had the tendency to impact negatively on the economy.

As a result his outfit had assured that it would develop cordial relations with journalists to have adequate knowledge in the subject matter.

Mr Afadzinu together with Mr Kojo Larbi also of the Communication Unit, were interacting with journalists in Takoradi on Friday.

He said the Communication outfit of the bank ran open door administration, therefore, admonished journalists to feel free to contact them for any information to avoid inaccuracies and speculations while they (journalists) must also inform them of what pertains on the ground to guide them in their operations.

Mr Moses Dotsey Aklorbortu, Chairman of the Western Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), said journalists must not be seen as intimidating force but as partners in development as their work contributed to the socio–economic growth of the nation.

He said while calling on the government to collaborate with journalists to ensure that adequate security was provided at always in critical events, the private sector must also offer their support to enhance development.
