Liberty beats Arsenal 3-1
Liberty Professionals boosted their survival hopes with a 3-1 win over Berekum Arsenals at the Sly Tetteh Stadium, Dansoman in mid-week.
The ‘Scientific Soccer Lads’ came from a goal down to wrestle the maximum points in the Week 25 encounter to move off the relegation zone.
Arsenals, who have laboured all-season in their bid to beat the drop stunned the home crowd with the opener on 22 minutes through Raphael Obeng.
The lead will only last for 14 minutes before the homers restored parity courtesy Daniel Kordie.
Liberty took charge of the game and deservedly went up for the first time in the game through Black Satellites forward, Ebenezer Assifuah five minutes from half time. It was Assifuah’s eight of the season.
Both sides resumed on a high note, with Arsenals fighting hard in search of the equalizer.
Liberty leading marksman Kennedy Assifuah put the icing on the cake with the third goal and his 13th overall.
The Dansoman lads are now ranked ninth with 34 points from 25 games whilst Arsenals remain a place above bottom-place Real Tamale United with 24 points.
