AngloGold appoints new Group CEO

AngloGold Ashanti has named one of its joint interim Group CEOs as the the substantive boss of the mining firm.

Mr. Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan’s new appointment is with immediate effect, AngloGold said May 8, 2013 in a statement.

The miner indicated that Venkatakrishnan will still remain as the Group’s Chief Financial Officer until a replacement is announced.

Following the departure of the former CEO Mark Cutifani to Anglo American, Mr Venkat has been joint interim CEO of AngloGold, alongside Tony O’Neill, the Executive Vice President.

Mr Venkat has been with AngloGold Ashanti for nine years. He has worked with Deloitte & Touche as a Director of Corporate Reorganisation Services in London.
