Mampong Assembly collects GH¢236,000 in IGF

The Mampong Municipal Assembly, last year, collected a total of GH¢236,448.66 in internally-generated funds (IGF), representing 69.33 percent of the targeted GH¢341,023.00.

Mr Daniel Appau Ohyeamang, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), described the performance as not encouraging and said many factors had accounted for the figure.

These include the low fees and rates, apathy on the part of its revenue collectors and the poor attitude of the people towards their tax obligations, he said.

Addressing an ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Mampong, he said to help improve on the revenue generation the fees and rates had been reviewed.

Mr Ohyeamang touched on the District Assemblies Common Fund and said they received GH¢752,797.51 as their share of the fund compared with the budgeted GH¢810,545.24 for the year.

He enumerated a number of projects they undertook to make life better for the people, including the construction of classroom blocks, supply of furniture to schools and improvement of the riding surface of some feeder roads.

The MCE appealed to Heads of Department to put their technical expertise at the disposal of the Assembly.

The Assembly later re-elected the incumbent Presiding Member,  Mr Joseph Addo.

He polled 33 votes out of the 48 cast to beat his only challenger Mr Isaac Duku.
