Kenyan set to become next UNCTAD Boss
Former Kenyan Commerce and Industry Minister, Mukhisa Kituyi, has been announced as the next Secretary General of the UN Conference on Trade and Developement (UNCTAD).
This was after UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon nominated Mr Kituyi for the post to replace Thailand’s Supachai Panitchpakdi who assumed the post since 2005.
Mr Panitchpakdi will end his second four-year term of office on August 31, 2013.
Mr Kituyi’s nomination must receive a confirmation from the UN General Assembly. His four-year term is expected to begin September 1, 2013.
