Gomoa West NDC Chairman appeals to Energy Minister for assistance
Nana Kwame Arhin, Gomoa West Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has appealed to the Minister of Energy and Petroleum to help change rotten wooden high tension electricity poles at Gomoa Nduem.
He said termites had fed on about 12 of the poles making them to become death traps to the residents.
Speaking to the press, Nana Arhin said the chiefs and elders had made many reports to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) offices at Apam and Winneba and would not wait for disaster to strike before rushing to the Gomoa West District Assembly and the Central Government for financial support.
The NDC Chairman, who is also Government Appointee to the Gomoa West Assembly, called on the Minister to act swiftly before lives were lost.
On rehabilitation of the road from Gomoa Afransi to Ankamu, Nana Arhin said the people were not happy about the slow pace the contractors were executing the project.
He said the two contractors engaged on the project had moved their machines from sites and appealed to the Government to ensure the completion of the project.
Nana Arhin said during 2012 electioneering, President John Mahama promised the two Paramount Chiefs of Gomoa Assin and Gomoa Ajumako Traditional areas that the road would be constructed and hoped he would fulfil the promise.
He said farmers and traders found it difficult to send their produce and goods to marketing centres due to bad roads.
