Ghana military says wants better working relationship with media

Major General Richard Opoku-Adusei, Chief of Army Staff on Tuesday called for a “better working relationship between the Media and the Military.”

“We are sincerely sorry for what happened on March 6, this year and very prepared to cooperate well with the media,” he said.

Maj. Gen. Opoku-Adusei said this during his maiden familiarization visit to the 66 Artillery Regiment in Ho.

He observed that military-media relation in the country was “super” until that incident and called for a new page of friendship.

Maj. Gen. Opoku-Adusei said the military and media could not afford to antagonize each other.

He said the military continued to work on its military-civil relation and assured that measures were being put in place to eliminate or reduce indiscipline among all ranks.

Lieutenant Colonel W. Abase Seidu, Commanding Officer of the Regiment told the GNA that the Regiment continues to be friendly to the media and the public.

He said a major problem facing the barracks was its poor sewerage systems and the ripping off of roofs of some residential apartments following a rainstorm recently.
