Court remands businessman over fraud
Kwadwo Asamoah, a 42 year-old businessman who defrauded 12 persons of a total of GH¢25,530 as initial deposits for procuring vehicles for them, has been ordered by the Juaso Circuit to be remanded into prison custody.
He pleaded guilty with explanation but the court presided over by Mr. Alex Obeng Asamoah regardless, remanded him to come back on June 21.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Daniel Ansah said the complainants were mostly drivers and teachers at Agogo, Juaso and Asankare whilst the accused lives in Kumasi where he operates an entity known as “Dadzie NAK”.
The prosecutor said the accused claimed to be in the business of purchasing vehicles for his clients who pay later after making initial deposits.
In March this year the accused collected the deposits of the complainants but failed to deliver the vehicles after several promises.
On June 5, the accused was arrested by the Police after it received numerous reports from the complainants.
Upon his arrest, the Police received wireless messages from Kibi, Anyinam and Kumasi about the accused being wanted for similar offences.
