Ghana NGO Games fixed for Oct. 5
The first ever Ghana Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Games will take place on Saturday, October 5 at the El-Wak Stadium.
The one-day event, an initiative of Organization of Rural Primary Education Developers (ORPED) Sports, a subsidiary of ORPED Ghana will be held under the theme “building partnerships for development”.
Kodwo Morgan, Country Director of ORPED Sports told GNA Sports that the games will provide a common platform for NGOs to interact, network, exchange ideas, showcase their work and also provide a relaxing atmosphere for all participants.
“Hopefully, participants will get to know what others are doing in the NGO world in Ghana and establish strong, healthy and sustainable relationships.”
The Country Director said participants will also discuss partnership opportunities and the use of sports as an effective tool in achieving development objectives in accordance with the 8th Millennium Development goal; “Develop a global partnership for development”.
He explained the event will bring together Ghanaian and International NGO’s, development agencies, social clubs and strategic partners who operate within the industry in the country.
Amongst disciplines to be competed for are Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics, a special ‘development game’ and a partnership walk.
ORPED Ghana, established in 1995 undertakes projects, programmes and events geared towards the development of children across the country.
