Ghana’s run-off elections – results still trickling in

Ghanaians voted in a run-off Sunday December 28, 2008 to decide the winner of elections that stated December 7, 2008, but from the certified results of about 178 constituencies released so far, there is no clear winner.

As the results trickle in, the pendulum keeps swinging back and forth from Nana AKufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or Prof. John Evans Atta Mills of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Unfortunately, the run-off has been marred by some incidents of violence in some constituencies.

While some of the violent incidents have been confirmed, others could not be confirmed.

Election observers, both local and international say the election has been largely free and fair.

Ghanaians are waiting with baited breath as the results keep coming in.
