DCE wants Ministry to develop tourist sites in Fanteakwa
Mr Abass Fuseini Sbaabe, the Fanteakwa District Chief Executive (DCE), has appealed to the Ministry of Tourism to help develop some tourist sites in the area.
He said the District was endowed with a number of tourist attractions and the Assembly will need help from the Ministry to “fast track” their development.
Mr Sbaabe was speaking at a durbar of heads of department in the area to welcome the Eastern Regional Minister, Ms Helen Adjoa Ntoso, and her entourage on her familiarization tour to the area.
He said some of the attractions in the area include Trudu, Akrum, Osubinboum and Akrumso waterfalls, Rocky paradise, wonderful palm tree with six stems and the natural tunnel.
Mr Sbaabe said the attraction sites when developed will also create employment for the people in the area and help reduce unemployment.
He said the Assembly had been able to register cattle owners and the number of cattle and herdsmen as well as the landlords who gave out parcels of land to them.
He said identification numbers on cattle, unique to each cattle owner, had also been provided for easy identification.
Mr Sbaabe said a compensation committee has also been established to visits farms to report on crops destroyed by cattle, determine the level of destruction and facilitate settlements.
On Education, he said, 32 new school blocks including Kindergarten, Junior and Senior High Schools had been constructed.
“A total of 2,000 school uniforms under the free school uniform programme have also been distributed”.
Mr Sbaabe said beneficiaries under the Ghana School Feeding Programme have been increased from three to 29 schools.
Ms Ntoso commended the Assembly for their good works in helping to advance the “Better Ghana Agenda” in the area.
She called for the cooperation of all departmental heads to enable government fulfill its promises.
Ms Ntoso earlier paid a courtesy call on Daasabre Awuah Kotoko II, Begorohene and Benkumhene of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area.
