Ghana Technology University opens Takoradi campus
The Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) has established a campus in Takoradi.
Dr. Osei K. Darkwa, President of the College, speaking at an open day of the College at Takoradi, said courses at the campus would begin in September this year.
He said the College poised to assist in the development of the manpower of the Western Region, would focus on technological training through a flexible teaching and learning methods.
Dr. Darkwa said GTUC presence in the region was part of a five-year strategic plan, part of which was to have campuses in all the 10 regions of the country in the near future.
The College has its main campus in Accra and had already opened campuses at Koforidua, Ho and Kumasi.
Dr. Darkwa said about half of its 4,000 students had registered for on-line courses, adding the College had set up a research centre in Takoradi to facilitate the on-line programmes.
Mr. Kobby Okyere Darko-Mensah, Member of Parliament for Takoradi commended Vodafone Ghana Limited for releasing some of its facilities to the College to open the Takoradi campus.
He urged the College to live up to its vision and train and equip people with relevant skills to enable them impact positively on the development of the region and the country as a whole.

This is excellent idea and this should be followed by the rest of the other Ghanaian universities. Sooner the better.
