Asante-Akim South elects PM

Mr. John Kennedy Agbesi has been elected Presiding Member (PM) of the Asante-Akim South District Assembly after two earlier attempts by the members had failed.

He polled 47 votes to beat his challenger, Mr. Charles Nana Yaw Osei, who had 17 votes.

The election paves way for the confirmation of the President’s nominees for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. De-graft Fokuo, fixed for Friday, July 5.

Mr. Agbesi thanked the assembly for the opportunity and asked for their support, cooperation and understanding, adding that, they should put the development of the district ahead of individual ambition and interest.
