FIFA U-20: Ghana beats Chile in seven-goal thriller to reach semis
Ghana defeat Chile 4-3 in a frenetic 120 minutes of football to reach the semi-final of the FIFA U-20 World Cup where they will meet France.
Striker Ebenezer Assifuah headed in the winner during one minute into stoppage time in extra time in the seven-goal thriller in Istanbul on Sunday night.
And the goal was the hero’s second of the match.
The Black Satellites will face the French in Wednesday’s last-four clash and the meeting against the European side will be the second after Ghana lost to them in the opening Group A match.
The all-attacking game certainly promised goals as Ghana took the lead after 11 minutes Moses Odjer volleyed a Frank Acheampong cross into the top corner.
But Ghana, 2009 World champions were stunned Nicolas Castillo angled a shot into the roof of the net at Eric Antwi’s near post in the 23rd minute for the equaliser.
Four minutes later, Ghana were on the back-foot with Angelo Henriquez striking a shot from outside the box.
Ghana returned from the break down but with 18 minutes remaining, they drew level when Assifuah scored his first of the evening from close range.
Neither side could find a winner within normal time as the game travelled into extra-time where an additional 30 minutes was required.
Henriquez run behind the Ghana defence to nod a cross over the stranded Antwi.
And with seven minutes of play remaining to end the game, Seidu Salifu slotted home before Assisfuah headed Ghana to the last-four during one minute into stoppage time in extra time.

though we won the match but the game could have been won earlier if our player release the ball and stop walking with it and be more purposeful……
