Birim South Assembly rejects President’s nominee
The Birim South District Assembly on Thursday failed to confirm Baffour Mensah Takyi, the President nominee as the District Chief Executive for the area.
He polled 21 out of the 31 votes cast representing 53.8 per cent in an election supervised by Mr Eric Mensah Bonsu, Deputy Eastern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission.
Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, Deputy Regional Minister, commended the assembly members for the peaceful way they went about the election.
She however pleaded with them to give the nominee the nod to ensure rapid development of the district.
