Medeama wins 2013 Ghana FA Cup
Medeama defeated league champions, Asante Kotoko by a lone goal to win the 2013 FA Cup Competition at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Both sides sold out a good game with several scoring chances, but missed target with Kotoko’s Rasnford Osei and the winner’s Tanko Mohamed as worse culprits.
Osei could have put Kotoko on top in the 22nd minute only to fire wide from a close range, whilst Mohamed was late in reaching a well executed cross by Augustine Sefa in the 36th minute.
Medeama however made amends late in the first half when Theophilus Anobah fired into the roof of the net after Sefa’s cross found him unmarked in the vital area of Kotoko.
Kotoko resumed the second half determined to cancel the lead as Mass-ud Didi Dramani sent on Kofi Nti Boakye, Prince Baffoe and Joseph Ochaya for Amos Frimpong, Richard Mpong and Ransford Osei but the defensive set up of Medeama thwarted their efforts.
Medaema resorted to counter attacks and managed to break away from Kotoko a few times only to miss targets narrowly.
Medeama will be Ghana’s representatives at the 2014 Confederations Cup Competition.
