Ga East Assembly cleans Dome Market
The Ga East Municipal Assembly on Saturday organized a clean-up exercise at the Dome Market in the Municipality.
The exercise had been regular since the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council directive to the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region to organize clean-up exercise in their various locations two months ago.
Mr John Kwao Sackey, Ga East Municipal Chief Executive, told the GNA in an interview that the exercise will continue on monthly basis to provide an opportunity for the residents to do a regular clean-up exercise.
He said the Dome Market is a major problem in terms of sanitation control, saying, “That is why we have concentrated today’s activity at the market area.”
Mr Sackey noted that the exercise would help the municipality to promote environmental hygiene and good health among the citizenry.
He advised the people of the area not to create stagnant waters in their surroundings since mosquitoes breed in it, leading to malaria infections, which Government spends a lot of money to treat.
