NIA to begin registration in Upper East
The National Identification Authority (NIA) would begin its registration exercise in the Upper East Region from August 15, the Head of the Public Affairs of the NIA, Ms Bertha Dzeble, has said.
She said at a forum for journalists in Bolgatanga that the exercise, which would take 10 days, is divided into zone one and zone two.
Registration in zone one would start on August and would cover Bolgatanga, Bongo, Builsa North, Builsa South, Kassena-Nankana East and Kassena –Nankana West.
Zone two, which will start from September 2 to September 11, will cover Bawku East, Bawku West, Garu-Tempane, Talensi and Nabdam districts.
Ms Dzeble said registration would be for persons who are six years and above and appealed to all stakeholders particularly the media and traditional rulers to support NIA to achieve its objectives.
Alhaji Salifu Abdulai, Head of NIA in charge of Greater Accra, said NIA had also made arrangements to conduct the exercise in inaccessible areas and that nobody would be left out.
He said it was criminal to do double registration and those caught would be prosecuted.
