OWASP to launch Ghana chapter

The Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP), which will be launched in Ghana, next month, aims to bring together leading global experts in cyber and application security.

OWASP is a non- governmental organisation focused on improving cyber and software security industry.

A statement issued to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Saturday by OWASP Ghana, said the launch marks a mile stone in information and communication technology in developing countries.

It said OWASP Ghana first cyber security summit scheduled for September 5 to September 6 would be part of the launch.

“OWASP helps the information security community by contributing ideas and experiences to effectively fight the war on cyber threats and computer incident,” it said.

The statement said OWASP world wide open community is dedicated to making application security visible by empowering individuals and organisations to be informed about true cyber and software security risks.

It called on executives, policy makers, managers, technical leaders, analysts, engineers and students to participate in the OWASP Ghana Chapter launch.

The Ghana cyber security 2013 summit would include competitions, along with extensive hands on training and an exhibition hall featuring the most exciting companies in the cyber and software security industry.
