Ghana’s Cabinet approves bill for digital migration costing $95m
Cabinet has approved $95 million for the digital migration programme in Ghana.
The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has set 2015 as the deadline for every country to migrate from analog to digital terrestrial.
At a daily press briefing at the Presidency last week, government officials said Cabinet has approved a bill on the digital migration.
“It will cost the State about $95 million,” Deputy Information Minister, Murtala Mohammed told the press September 6, 2013.
According to the Minister, government is hopeful to generate revenue to pay the money in the next two to three years to make way for TV and radio stations to migrate.
It has economic and social consequences, he added referring to the migration.
