Asuogyaman Assembly confirms President’s Nominee
Mr Thomas Ampem Nyarko, the President’s nominee for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Asuogyaman District Assembly has been confirmed by the assembly members.
The 35- year-old civil servant at the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development obtained 51 votes, representing 96.6 percent of the 53 votes cast.
Two members of the assembly voted “NO” representing 3.4 percent in an election supervised by Mr Paul Boateng, Eastern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC).
Earlier before voting, Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, said the assembly had done enough in terms of providing development to the people, and that, the achievement would not have been possible without the support of the assembly members and commended them on their efforts.
Ms Frimpong appealed to them to do away with partisan politics, since that would not have any good effect on the decentralization concept.
She also commended them for their conduct, before, during and after the Supreme Court verdict.
