SESSA Games postponed due to lack of funds
The Security Services Sports Festival (SESSA Games 2013) has been postponed with immediate effect for lack of funds.
The event, which is organised biennially to bring members of the various security services together, was slated for mid-October, but had to be postponed because of the inability of the organisers to secure sponsorship from corporate entities.
The decision to suspend the games was taken at an emergency meeting of SESSCO members, held at the Ghana National Fire Service headquarters in Accra, to assess the preparedness of various stakeholders towards this year’s games.
In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Friday and signed by Elis Robinson, Acting Head of Public Relations, Ghana National Fire Service, the SESSA Games allows members to engage in various sporting disciplines with the objective of establishing unity and building ‘es spirit de corps’ among the security services.
The statement said the organising body had experienced a lot of setbacks including donor fatigue and this made the October edition impossible.
“It is however anticipated that all the challenges would have been settled by 2015 to enable us continue with the games”, the statement said.
